Cultures d'avenir 2023

A European learning and exchange program

Education

Year two of "Cultures d’avenir" brings together 15 young artists who will be taking part in a series of meetings, workshops and mentorships at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin (HKW), the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB), with the aim of creating spaces to meet, sharing artistic practices and rethinking the role of community art.

How can community art and collaborative artistic practices address environmental emergency, gender and inclusion politics, as well as the urgent need to explore decolonial strategies? To explore these issues, 15 young artists chosen in an open call will be taking part in the training and exchange programme "Cultures d’avenir" from January to June 2023.

The aim of the programme is to provide the 15 artists with spaces to meet and reflect together with other professionals and experts, in order to rethink the way artistic practice addresses and intersects with societal issues.

Support and mentoring

For six months, the selected artists will share their projects, reflect on their own work, and learn and try out new creative paths. This collective learning process is supported by a large group of experts and three mentors, Simona Dvorák, Maria Ptqk and Leila Haghighat, who will help the young artists reflect on how they can put their artistic approaches into practice more effectively.

The programme takes the form of three in-person meetings in Berlin (February), Barcelona (April) and Paris (June), along with online training and mentoring sessions.

"Cultures d’avenir" is a programme led by Centre Pompidou, Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) and Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB), with the support of the Franco-German Youth Office (FGYO).
