On the occasion of the Gabriel Ferrater Year, a range of voices of very diverse languages celebrate World Poetry Day in an event that invites us to affirm the survival of the author and the need for his poetry.

In the fifteenth edition of World Poetry Day, the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes and the Federació Catalana d'Associacions i Clubs Unesco have chosen the poem "Si puc” [If I can] by Gabriel Ferrater, of whom this year we commemorate the centenary of his birth and the fiftieth anniversary of his death, as the central theme of an event that invites us to celebrate his work. In this poem, Ferrater questions himself, and questions us, about memory and the creative process. For the poet, there is a well where memories tend to precipitate and store themselves; some only glance out of the corner of his eye, others rush in to try to redeem the moment and pay the debt of poetry in the face of reality.

Under this reflection to which the chosen motto invites, voices as diverse as Marta Minguell Colomé, Teresa W, Eduard Escoffet, Alba Riera, Jordi Cornudella, Marta Pessarrodona, Josep Murgades, Dolors Miquel, La Veronal, Pol Guasch, Glòria Coll Domingo, Jaume Coll Mariné, Maria Callís Cabrera, Júlia Colom, Martín Leiton, David Soler, Carles Forres o Pep Boatella, among others, converge in the Hall of the CCCB to stir our consciences and give us the permanence of an instant of emotion. The event will also include the participation of the Catalan Down Syndrome Foundation and students from the Ramon Llull Institute network.

If you are also ferraterianly poetic, you can share your voice in the networks with the hashtag #DMP22.

Translation of the event into Catalan Sign Language by the Associació Gironina de Sords.
