Xcèntric 2023
This season’s Xcèntric programme is the result of an almost archaeological investigation into the history of documentary, experimental and artiste film, with the aim of giving visibility to a group of films that are unfairly little known, made on the margins of the industry and overlooked by traditional historiography.
In this programme of the 21st season, we present the first screenings of restorations of cult films, tributes to filmmakers who have recently died, like Jean-Luc Godard, and films made by women or from a feminist perspective. In addition, we also focus on the relationship between experimental film and the visual representation of music and sound, and we continue to explore the relationship between cinema and pedagogy. Finally, we’re also screening lots of films in analogue format, both classics and the work of filmmakers who are active today, especially in 16mm, the preferred format of experimental filmmakers that turns 100 this year.
