Synopsis: Coinciding with the exhibition at the CCCB of Santiago Sierra’s installation “Presos políticos en la España contemporánea” (Political prisoners in contemporary Spain), we issue this thought-provoking video about the clampdown on various forms of freedom experienced in Spain under the PP government of M. Rajoy. To quote the presentation of the exhibition: Sierra’s work reflects on the effects of the “Ley Mordaza” (Gag law) and manifests, by means of a selection of very clear examples, the existence of political prisoners in Spain. We also interview the documentary director and Euro MP for Syriza, Stelios Kouloglou, an international observer at the Catalan referendum of 1 October, who’ll be offering his take on Rajoy’s government and whether or not there was violence on the part of Spanish police during voting.
Participants: Santiago Sierra, Stelios Kouloglou
