Synopsis: In the social, political and personal sphere, we believe in the need for transparency and we frown on opacity, concealment and secrecy. The sewers of the state, extramarital flings and hidden agendas were taken for granted in the 20th century but are now regarded as intolerable. However, it’s not that easy to live without veils between what we know and what we don’t, as Slavoj Zizek points out in this programme. Nietzsche’s “How much truth can a spirit bear?” elicits a wider variety of answers than ever today. WikiLeaks, firms that help couples be unfaithful, the crisis explained openly as a scam of the first order, the paternalistic concealment of truths and the hushing up of open secrets while we post our lives on the timelines of social networks. A programme about the unbearableness of a transparent life with declarations by Bani Brusadin, Rick Prelinger, Manuel Delgado, Jorge Luis Marzo and Jesper Hour.
