External Memory

Over the course of the 20th century, photographs and videos have gradually changed context. A clear example of this is the value that our parents gave to the memories expressed in dozens of photograph albums. Today hundreds of photographs are taken that often remain in the computer until they become virtual oblivion. This proposal works the concept of memory and tries to make manifest the change in value that has been given to it by different generations. This composition of three micro-videos (“Basura”, “Filtro” and “Recuerdo” is focused on making the viewer aware of this relationship between technology and memory in an era of audiovisual excess. The micro-video “Basura” tackles the subject of visual information in a world that has grown as much as its images; “Filtro” inquires into photographic filters with relation to memories and “Recuerdo” poses questions on the devaluation of the memory in the face of the surfeit of images.
