Adam Curtis, without a mirror
Soy cámara online
Adam Curtis, one of the most dynamic and controversial directors of the last two decades, celebrated in museums and analysed in online forums, revises the story of the 20th century by means of innovative routes, figures and perspectives. When in late 2017 Curtis was invited by the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía to review his work and give a keynote talk, he gave us an interview, without the possibility of recording his image. This made the program a special challenge, as his work, comprising archive images, and his discourse are, in themselves, overflowing and absorbing. How to illustrate Adam Curtis?
This short film corresponds to the first part of that interview in which Curtis talks about his films, but also about the present-day system of technocrats who think they rule the world, about WikiLeaks and Snowden, about control by means of terror, and about Donald Trump and other “symptoms” of today’s complex world.
