Ben Russell. «Trypps Number 7 (Badlands)» by Andrés Duque

The cineaste Andrés Duque presents Trypps Number 7 (Badlands) by Ben Russell. In this work, Russell uses a surprising device to film the face of a young woman in the imposing setting of the Badlands National Park in South Dakota. The film is reminiscent of ethnographic cinema with its desire to capture different states of transition, whilst also taking its inspiration from structural cinema that prioritises form over narrative content. But beyond all these influences, this film is also a declaration of love. A fascinating work that can be interpreted in many different ways.
