Denise Desautels, one of the most important voices in contemporary Quebec poetry, talks to the poet Antoni Clapés, her translator into Catalan, about their shared literary connections.
Denise Desautels is considered one of the most outstanding figures in contemporary Quebec. With a groundbreaking and extremely dynamic literature, she has published more than forty titles —including poems, short stories and artist's books— which have earned her numerous distinctions. So far, all his books have been translated into Catalan by the translator and poet Antoni Clapés. Desautels has also translated Clapés' poetry into French, which makes their author-translator relationship a two-way artistic bond.
In this conversation, the authors will discuss the poetry of Denise Desautels and reflect on how a literary relationship can become a beautiful friendship between two people and also between two languages.
