Views of the East

In the mark of the exposición Fantasies of the Harem and new Sherezades (February 2003), CCCB organized a serie of lectures about the imatge and idilic construcción that first travelers to Oriente transmitted us through the painting, literature and cinema and the influence of that constructions in current world. The exposition Fantasies of the Harem and new Sherezades took as beginning point the reflections of the writer Moroccan Fatema Mernissi about the contrast between harem reality and the vision we have about itself from Occident.
