Life course patterns are increasingly undergoing change. One of these patterns concerns the transition to adult life. Education and health are no longer guarantees of incorporation into the labour market, with access increasingly delayed and more precarious. Furthermore, there is a shortage of affordable housing for young people to set up home. As if this were not enough, the family models available, whether of a traditional type or an equalitarian type, do not inspire great confidence in young people. For all these reasons, emancipation and settling down are delayed, fertility rates among young women have hit rock-bottom and the economic cycle of new homes kicks off late and poorly.
