Anna Cabré

Director of the Centre of Demographic Studies and Professor of Human Geography at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

(Barcelona, 1943). Professor of Human Geography and director of Demographic Studies at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, she has a degree in Political Science and Demography from the Université de Paris and has taught demographic analysis at the Colegio de México and at the Montreal, Chicago, Sorbonne and Nanterre universities. Her studies have been essential in the analysis of demography in Spain and Catalonia. Her present research is concerned with the impact of the foreign-born population in the composition of couples and she is also working on other studies on health-related issues and dependence in Spain. She has been awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi (Saint George Cross) and the Narcís Monturiol Medal for Scientific and Technological Merit. Among her published works are Família i treball (Family and Work), Proa, 2002, and El sistema català de reproducció (The Catalan System of Reproduction) Proa, 1999.
