Black Light

“Black Light” considers the influence of the various esoteric traditions in contemporary art from the 1950s to the present day. These traditions, here understood in a broad sense, can be traced back to the very origins of civilisation and have been used on a number of occasions to shape ambitious philosophical, scientific or spiritual ideas. In recent years, numerous artists have shown a new interest in issues as varied as alchemy, secret societies, the esoteric branches of religions, Eastern philosophies, magic and psychedelia, rekindling the fascination with the counterculture of the 1960s and ’70s.
