Nancy Garín Guzmán

Independent journalist, art researcher and curator

Nancy Garín Guzmán (Valparaíso, 1972) is a journalist and art historian who works on projects related to critical thinking, new pedagogies, archives, memory, and decolonialism. She completed the Independent Studies Program at MACBA (PEI).

She was a member of the Etcétera collective and the International Errorist. She has been part of research groups such as Península: Colonial Processes and Artistic and Curatorial Practices (2012-2018) and Contraimaginarios (Post-pandemics) (2022-2023). She is a member of the research and production platform Equipo re (2010 to present), with whom she has developed the Anarchivo sida project, and of the Espectros de lo Urbano group (2017 to present), a study on the urban as part of the colonial, capitalist, and patriarchal machinery. During 2022-2023, she was a resident at ADKDW in Cologne and is part of the research group Contraimaginarios at Arts Santa Mònica/Barcelona.

She is a teacher and mentor/tutor in various spaces for critical and experimental pedagogies at institutions such as ACCA, La Virreina Image Centre, Museo Nacional Reina Sofía, CCCB, and MACBA. Tutor at the Independent Studies Program PEI/MACBA and teacher in the 2023-2024 edition. Tutor during the artistic and research residency of the CATÀRSIA Collective at CCCB (2023-2024). Coordinator of the Political Imagination (Futurar) seminar within the Tejidos Conjuntivos program (MNRS, 2024).
