Cultures d'Avenir 2024

Berlin, Paris, Barcelona

"Cultures d'avenir" is a training, creation and exchange programme promoted by the CCCB, the Centre Pompidou and the Gaîté Lyrique in Paris and the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) in Berlin. The program is made possible with the support of the Franco-German Youth Office (FGYO).

This year’s edition invites 15 young filmmakers and audio-visual artists from Catalonia, France and Germany, chosen in an open call, to share visions, dreams and perspectives of the contemporary city and to reimagine ways of inhabiting it.

With a series of 3 workshops of 3 days each (in Berlin, Paris and Barcelona), the program invites young filmmakers and audio-visual artists to rethink how artistic practices address and intersect with societal issues and how art and culture can play a role in approaching global contemporary challenges. The aim of the programme is to provide the artists with spaces to meet and reflect together with other professionals and experts, in order to rethink the way artistic practice addresses and intersects with societal issues.

Support and mentoring

For six months, the selected artists will share their projects, reflect on their own work, and learn and try out new creative paths. This collective learning process is supported by a large group of experts and mentors, who will help the young artists reflect on how they can put their artistic approaches into practice more effectively. The programme takes the form of three in-person meetings in Berlin, Paris and Barcelona:

During the course of this program, the four international art institutions are collaborating with a commitment to critical thought and experimental inquiry while providing their structural support and knowledge.
