Mary Flanagan and José Luis de Vicente

New Perspectives on Digital Leisure

Debate

Free

In this session, the researcher, artist and games designer, Mary Flanagan, and the curator, writer, and researcher, José Luis de Vicente, will speak about how confinement has accelerated the cultural dynamics of the hyperconnected society.

Digital leisure has played a key role during the pandemic. Sales of videogames have shot up and online games platforms and streaming have beaten their records of users and simultaneous connection. But, as the days go by, the screen has shown its limits, especially when it has become almost the only available space of relationship. Can we revert the sudden migration of all our social interactions into the virtual world? What spaces beyond the screen will we find to keep playing?

This session has been programmed together with ZKM| Center for Art Media Karlsruhe. The conference will be broadcast simultaneously on their website.

This conversation has been prerecorded in order to guarantee its technical quality and to comply with the current restrictions of movement. It will be broadcast on the CCCB website.
