Marilena de Chiara

Marilena de Chiara holds a PhD in Humanities from Pompeu Fabra University. Educated in Rome, Edinburgh, Barcelona and the United States, she specialises in Comparative Literature and Performance Studies. She is a regular contributor to Jot Down magazine. She is a translator and professor of History and Theory of Literature, Storytelling and Creative Writing for the writing school at the Ateneu Barcelonès, and for the Master in Literary Creation at the UPF BSM and IES Abroad Barcelona. She has published the Spanish translations Cuentos para un año [Stories for the Years] by Luigi Pirandello (Nórdica, 2011), Dante by Alessandro Barbero (Acantilado, 2021), and En otras palabras [In Other Words] by Jhumpa Lahiri (Ediciones Salamandra, 2019), among others. She has also translated works by Angelica Liddell into Italian. In 2012, De Chiara was a finalist for the National Translation Award.
