Magda Bandera
Journalist, writer, and director of La Marea
With a degree in Journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), she is co-founder and present director of the digital publication La Marea. She has worked as a journalist for several media outlets, including TV3, Catalunya Ràdio, El Periódico, and La Sexta. She is also editor of Climàtica, the first magazine specialising in global warming, which was recognised with a Special Mention in 2020 by the Human Rights Institute of Catalonia. In 2017 she was awarded the Women’s Press Prize and, two years later, the Good Practices in Non-Sexist Communication Prize of the Association of Women Journalists of Catalonia for her journalistic work on the consequences of male violence against women. She has also published the books Hijos de guerra (Children of War, DeBolsillo, 2002), Turbadísimos (Very Upset, Martínez Roca, 2002), 33 tristes traumas (33 Tragic Traumas, Plaza & Janés, 2001), and Haciendo aguas (Taking on Water, DeBolsillo, 2000).
