Artist and researcher

Artist and researcher, she graduated in Art History from the University of Barcelona and gained a Master’s in Comparative Studies in Literature, Art, and Thought from the Pompeu Fabra University. Arias researches and tells fables using lesbian feminism and the image; and on the power of expressions, interweaving such with mythological and aesoteric stories. Her latest work includes the expanded sculptural project Una amazona és una amant que cavalca (An Amazon Woman Is a Lover Who Rides, Creation Award, Sala d’Art Jove, 2023); the correspondence-installation Amb tu (With You, Espai d’Art Contemporani de Castellò, 2022); the performative talk Hay una mujer que vive en mi habitación (There’s a Woman Living in My Bedroom, LOOP, 2021); the queer-utopian counter-urban planning proposal in the form of the video-game Bolloisla (Dyke-Isle, LOOP, 2020); and the Gender Reader performance (2019). As a cultural intermediary, she is part of the Joan Miró Foundation’s Public and Social Programming department and is instructor at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA) on the “Narrativas de una colección” (Narratives of a Collection) programme. Arias has also participated in various initiatives organised through Barcelona’s LGTBI Centre, including being the curator for some of the Museus LGTBI programme.
