alterNativa Exchange with Indigenous Peoples
alterNativa Exchange with Indigenous Peoples was founded in 1986 as an international cooperation organization for social transformation and the promotion and defense of the rights of indigenous peoples. It provides financial and technical support to indigenous organizations that defend their territory, their culture and all those rights that are violated. The way of working is from the exchange between peoples and cultures, betting on an alternative to the current hegemonic development, social, economic and political models.
Almost 20 years ago alterNativa started a new line of work: the right to own communication. Through this line, projects such as IndiFest, Barcelona Indigenous Film Festival -which has celebrated its 17th edition in 2024-, and the indigenous film audiovisual platform miradaNativa.org, among other projects, have been developed. This process has been worked on with the support of CLACPI (Coordinadora Latinoamericana de Cine y Comunicación de los Pueblos Indígenas).
