Daniele Porretta: "Writers mapped out all their desires and also their fears on Mars"
Interview with the architect and professor of design
In this interview, conducted as part of the CCCB exhibition "Mars. The Red Mirror", architect and professor of design Daniele Porretta reviews the construction and development of the collective imaginary surrounding Mars. Porretta draws on early scientific observations and on some literary and cinematic works of science fiction that speak of intelligent life on the neighbouring planet. All of this begs the question of how we explore the unknown by projecting our prejudices onto otherness, with predetermined ethics and morals.
