Metaphor: The Old and New Story that Creates the World
Just as metaphors have been necessary for building social, communicative and even anthropological systems, they have also helped to create scientific thought and language. Agustín Fernández Mallo, Amelia Gamoneda and Gustavo Schwartz explore the metaphorical and analogical mechanisms that have helped to create different ways of interpreting and seeing the world. The conversation places special attention on the theories of complex systems, models that are constructed from lots of data that would not make sense on its own and that require a greater level of conceptual abstraction, giving the scientific metaphor an even more definitive role.
