Live battle of translations
Debate + Courses and workshops

To celebrate International Translation Day we are presenting a live battle between two translators who defend two different versions in Catalan of a single text.
The translation in question is that of the first pages of Nikhterinó Deltio, an untranslated detective novel by Greek author Petros Markaris.
The two competing versions are the result of a collaborative translation workshop organised at the Escola Oficial d’Idiomes Barcelona-Drassanes in collaboration with the Greek initiative The Language Project and the european platform for literary exchange, translation and policy debate Literature Across Frontiers. Last May, two groups of students and language aficionados, led by the two professional translators, worked together and now they are defending their translation choices in public.
This event is a unique opportunity for two rich languages to meet, giving to the audience the chance to participate, express their opinion and reward the participants for their effort.
No need to speak Greek to attend.
Participants: Kleri Skandami (moderator), Quim Gestí (translator) and Montse Franquesa (translator)
Moderators: Κleri Skandami
Participants: Montserrat Franquesa Gòdia, Joaquim Gestí Bautista
