Remembering Abbas Kiarostami
Debate
On the occasion of the Catalan translation of the poetry of Abbas Kiarostami, we pay homage to the Iranian filmmaker in a session with dialogue, reading and music.
The poetry of the great Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami, linked to the CCCB through the exhibition project «Erice-Kiarostami. Correspondences» (2006), is intimately related to his film and photographic creations: it is the same poetic vision that runs through his entire oeuvre. His poems, published in Catalan for the first time in El vent se m'endurà (Karwan, 2022), like flashes of lightning reminiscent of haiku, evoke scenes from nature, everyday life and the rural world, and often pose moral or existential reflections. In this debate Jordi Balló, professor of audiovisual communication, Ryma Sheermohammadi, translator and cultural disseminator, and musician Iman Siuof will recall the figure of the filmmaker in a session moderated by the poet Esteve Plantada. The event will begin with a dialogue about the work of Kiarostami, followed by a reading of his poems accompanied by a musical improvisation with a santour.
Moderators: Esteve Plantada
Participants: Jordi Balló, Ryma Sheermohammadi, Iman Siuof
