"Solaris" by Stanislaw Lem

Friends of the CCCB

Exclusive for Friends of the CCCB

In this session Antonio Lozano proposes the book by the writer Stanisław Lem (Lviv, Ukraine, 1921), one of the great references of science fiction.

He is an author of the so-called hard science fiction, one of whose main themes focuses on the possible technological developments and that is not exempt from a metaphysical angle. Thus, in his fictions devices, robots, rockets and technologies appear that allow space travel or contact with extraterrestrials. In this regard, as is the case with Solaris, it analyzes, above all, the communication problems and conflicts that would arise from a hypothetical contact given cultural differences, and postulates an allegory of the clash of civilizations.
