Social and cultural conflict

ICREA research professors, Paula Casal (UPF) and Victòria Reyes (ICTA-UAB), will discuss the ability of different societies to adapt to climate change and its resulting socio-economic inequalities.
Turning our backs on climate change in the belief that it only affects the scientific community will in no way free us from its effects on our daily lives. Regardless of the collective response to this problem we have created, we know that the lives of future generations are bound to be different from our lives today.
Faced with this scenario of irreversible change, it remains to be seen how societies adapt. Will we be able to learn from those cultures that have struck a better environmental balance? How can we include the treatment of inequalities stemming from climate change in our legal and social protection models?
