Victoria Reyes García

ICREA research profesor at the ICTA at the UAB

Victoria Reyes is ICREA research professor at the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA) at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), where she is director of the Laboratory for the Analysis of Socio-Ecological Systems in a Global World (LASEG). She obtained a PhD in anthropology from the University of Florida with a thesis on the Tsimane indigenous peoples, a hunter-gatherer society from the Bolivian Amazon who she lived among for five years. As a result of this experience, she has focused her research on the study of the traditional ecological knowledge of indigenous peoples and the benefits of handing it down from generation to generation. One of her most recent research projects has highlighted the adaptability of indigenous peoples and the benefits of their ecological knowledge.
