Petros Màrkaris and Quim Gestí

The Greek author is known worldwide as the creator of the police commissioner Kostas Kharitos, a disillusioned Athens policeman who is used by Petros Márkaris to make a critical representation, which he describes as Brechtian, of today's society. A faithful collaborator of the filmmaker Theo Angelopoulos, Markaris has produced a literary oeuvre that is both highly critical of its era and very committed, as can be read in the novels in which Kharitos is the main character.

In this conversation with Quim Gestí, with whom Markaris has a close and tenacious relationship, they will talk about how the craft of translating goes hand in hand with that of writing: while Markaris gets down to work, Gestí is waiting for him on the other side.
