Nominated for an Oscar for the best animated film, this exceptional jewel of present-day animation proposes a journey, in the eyes of a boy, to the dilemmas of a world controlled by technology, machines and the media.
Coinciding with the exhibition After the End of the World, we are proposing a film forum season that will offer, as in previous editions, an opportunity to take an in-depth look at the intersections between cinematographic creation and essential aspects of the processes of the production, circulation and management of knowledge, particularly scientific and technological knowledge.
In this case, the aim is to examine how a broad set of actors, spaces, discourses and inter-related practices, including politics, academia, activism and the media, interact in processes of the social, cultural and scientific construction of nature and, therefore, of our position within or in relation to it.
We will be exploring questions on climate, ecology, sustainability, urban planning, health, food, resources, responsibility and future projections, at three discussions with specialists in these issues and others from the fields of communication, film and science history.
We recommend watching the whole film before the sessions, as these will focus on analysing and commenting specific aspects of each of the films.
You can find all of the films at Filmin.
