COVID-19: Finding the Cure
Debate
Free
In this session, Núria Montserrat (ICREA – IBEC), expert in the new strategies of regenerative medicine, and Javier Martínez-Picado (ICREA – IrsiCaixa), expert in HIV research, will speak with the journalist Cristina Sáez about the state of research aiming to find a cure for COVID-19.
The scientific community is working to produce, as soon as possible, an effective treatment for COVID-19. In this race against time, scientists from different disciplines around the planet are working together on a great variety of proposals and strategies. What treatments are they researching? Will it be possible to find a cure soon? And, if a treatment is found, who will have access to it?
Núria Montserrat, who is researching a drug that would prevent the virus from infecting new cells, and Javier Martínez-Picado, a specialist in HIV virology and immunology, will speak with Cristina Sáez about the challenges faced by scientists with the urgent need to find a cure in this pandemic.
This session is jointly organised with the Catalan Institute for Research and Advanced Studies (ICREA).
This conversation has been prerecorded in order to guarantee its technical quality and to comply with the current restrictions of movement. It will be broadcast on the CCCB website.
Moderators: Cristina Sáez
