AI: Artificial Intelligence
Maurizio Ferraris and Marta Peirano
A social revolution
Debate
The philosopher Maurizio Ferraris and the journalist Marta Peirano speak about the present and future of a society organized around artificial intelligence.
Artificial intelligence changes the ways we relate with others, human and non-human. It modifies the intimate domain and working relationships. It transforms what we understand by work and leisure. In his new book Doc-Humanity (Mohr Siebrek, 2022 – in Spanish, Documanidad, Alianza Editorial, 2023), the Italian philosopher Maurizio Ferraris analyses these new interactions against the background of a revolution based on constant documentation of life, a revolution that feeds on the registering and labelling of our creativity, experience, and consumption habits. Director of the Italian Institute for Advanced Studies, Scienza Nuova, and a founder of the “New Realism” movement of contemporary philosophy, Ferraris speaks with Marta Peirano, journalist and researcher in the field of technopolitics, about AI mechanisms of social transformation and the future situations that might be opened up by this new reality.
