Metamorphoses. The Myth of Identity
Debate
Artist Samantha Hudson, playwright Denise Duncan, activist Vanesa Freixa and writer Ahmad Jan Nawzadi will talk with Casa dels Clàssics Director Sira Abenoza about the concept that inspires this year's edition of the festival, the "metamorphoses" and how to face the myth of identity.
To what extent is the idea of identity nothing more than a construct that helps us to believe that others are more stable, fixed and predictable entities than they really are? Is there something in each of us that remains unchanged throughout our lives? Or, rather, are we entities that flow, mutate and happen depending on the environment, on what happens to us? Is our identity entirely the result of the social, political, historical and biographical context we have lived through, or is there something genuine? To what extent are identities a concept of "metamorphoses" to face one of the eternal and key questions of art and thought: Who am I? Who are we?
"Nothing more intense than the terror of losing one's identity."
Alejandra Pizarnik
Moderators: Sira Abenoza
