Dramaturgies. Stories incarnated

Course directed by Carles Batlle, in collaboration with the Institut del Teatre

Courses and workshops

What do we mean when we talk about dramaturgy? Although dramaturgy came into being with the theatre, today we can also talk of the dramaturgy of the cinema, or of the comic book, the circus or dance. After all, in a society that has long offered itself up as spectacle, dramaturgy can be applied to almost any of our experiences. What ultimately defines the composition of its narratives is a principle of representation. Or, to put it another way: dramaturgy brings together actions, figures and conflicts—which may or may not be linked to a story—generatingimages and situations that are incarnated more than narrated. That’s what makes it so singular.
