For some years now, the framework in which politics had traditionally been set seems to have been in crisis, and increasingly there is talk of citizens’ lack of identification with political leaders and institutions. However, the debate proposed goes beyond placing in question certain aspects of political life, and aims to focus on what place politics should occupy in a society that has undergone profound change. Globalisation and its effect on the traditional foundations of the State (territory, population, sovereignty) means that now, more than ever before, it is necessary to talk about how the collective dimension of this new society should be structured.
