Ramón Sánchez Lizarralde
Ramón Sánchez Lizarralde gained his diploma in Albanian Language at the University of Tirana, Albania. Between 1985 and 1990, he was the director of Ediciones VOSA. He has held posts in various associations and public bodies, such as member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Writers' Association, President of ACE Translators, member of the Board of the Hispanic Centre for Literary Translation-Tarazona Translator's Centre, and Advisor in the Department of Interpretation and Languages of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among others. He has been a guest lecturer on the Master's degree course in translation of the Institute of Modern Languages and Translators of the University of Alcalá de Henares (Madrid) since 1997, and has taught in the Literary Creation workshop of the Spanish Writers' Association since 2002.
Since 1990 he has mainly devoted himself to literary translation and to his contributions as a literary commentator in "La Esfera", of El Mundo newspaper and in "Babelia", of El País, along with contributions to magazines such as El Urogallo, Leer, Quimera, Libronet, Letra Internacional, República de las Letras, Revista de Libros and others.
He is the co-author of two works: Libro blanco de la traducción en España (1997), Traducción literaria. Algunas experiencias (2001) and Diccionario de escritores del mundo (gone to press), and author of Cuentos populares albaneses (1994) and El agradecimiento del muerto y otras historias albanesas (2004). He was awarded the 1993 National Translation Prize for his translation of The Concert, by Ismail Kadaré.
