Jaume Vilalta
Journalist and lecturer at the Pompeu Fabra University. He is director and founder of the Catalan Television science communication programme Quèquicom which has received numerous prizes, including the Narcís Monturiol Prize for Scientific Merit, which is awarded by the Generalitat (Government) of Catalonia, and others such as the international Novo Nordisk Prize. He has written two books on journalism, the field in which he began his career. As a reporter for the programme 30 Minuts he was awarded the International Ondas Prize and the Ortega y Gasset Prize for Journalism. He subsequently created the programme Línea 900 for TVE (Spanish Television) through which he began to raise public awareness concerning such issues as irregular adoption and ill-treatment of animals in traditional festivities. He now applies his knowledge to popularising science with reports closely related with everyday reality.
