Amador Vega Esquerra

Amador Vega was born in Barcelona in 1958. He has a PhD in Philosophy at the Raimundus Lullus Institute of the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg(Germany) and he is Professor of Aesthetics in the Department of Humanities at Pompeu Fabra University. He was “Joan Coromines Visiting Professor” at the University of Chicago (2007) and invited lecturer at Saint Joseph University in Beirut (2010). His field of study is Western mysticism and its relations with aesthetics.

He is the author, among other works, of Maestro Eckhart, El fruto de la nada (2010, 7th ed.); Zen, Mística y Abstracción (2002); Ramon Llull y el secreto de la vida (2002; English translation Ramon Llull and the Secret of Life, New York, 2003); El bambú y el olivo (2004); Arte y Santidad. Cuatro lecciones de estética apofática, (2005); Tratado de los cuatro modos del espíritu (2005); Sacrificio y creación en la pintura de Rothko (2010), Tres poetas del exceso. La hermenéutica imposible en Eckhart, Silesius y Celan (2011) and Libro de horas de Beirut (2014).

He is president of the Asociación de Amigos de la Bibliotheca Mystica et Philosophica Alois M. Haas of the UPF and a corresponding member of the Collège International de Philosophie (Paris).
