The idea of Europe

Who has power, today?

Lecture by Owen Jones

Debate

Democracy was born in the squares, and the majority of European social conquests were achieved on the streets. In today’s context of cutbacks, social movements are again more active than ever, but they run up against a more organised and efficient establishment. Who has the power in Europe, the states or the citizens?

Owen Jones, journalist for The Guardian. He has published Chavs: la demonización de la clase obrera (Capitan Swing, 2012).

Host: Carles A. Foguet, political scientist, director of communication of Jot Down Magazine and editor of the political analysis blog Cercle Gerrymandering.

Presenters: Carles A. Foguet

Participants: Owen Jones
