Visit to «Chris Ware.Drawing Is Thinking» with Mery Cuesta

Curator and comic-book expert Mery Cuesta offers a visit based on her own life story, looking for points in common with or differences from Chris Ware’s in areas such as the underground tradition, humour and experimentation with language.

Ware’s work stands at the crossroads of autobiography, an absolute commitment to the profession of cartoonist and his own obsessions. On the autobiographical substratum that underlies Ware’s work, cultural critic Mery Cuesta will construct a parallel story based on her own autobiography, finding similar and divergent territories in relation to issues such as underground publishing, comic-book pedagogy, the use of humour and experimentation beyond paper with comic-book language.

With Lateral Views, the CCCB expands the exhibition narrative by means of voices which, in their singularity, help us to look, and look at ourselves, from other viewpoints, turning the exhibition into a living, questioning space that is open to multiple forms of meaning.
