The witness

Sometimes invisible bridges are created in time over which a cinema made from affinities between different authors passes. The pillars are cinema directors who have found themselves in time and space, sometimes as a teacher and others as a pupil; on other occasions, the takeover has been transmitted through common timeless and borderless obsessions.

This session presents authors, each of whom was the mentor of the following. A bridge with four pillars where animation is used by authors to present universes with a strong identity and which at the same time have been a reference for the following. In this way, the Czech Berthold Bartosch collaborated in the most outstanding film of the pioneer and master in the art of silhouette animation, Lotte Reiniger. In 1948, the Canadian George Dunning had Berthold Bartosch as a mentor, and when he returned to Toronto he set up the Graphic Associates studio, where he offered Michael Snow his first work in cinema.
