Making Africa
The new correspondents
Conversation with Tania Adam, Xavier Aldekoa, Samuel Aranda and Gemma Parellada. Moderated by Pere Ortín
Debate
A new generation of journalists focuses its gaze on the African continent. In this roundtable discussion, some of the new correspondents discuss the knowledge that a responsible reading of African current events can provide, as well as the challenges that characterise their work.
As communications technologies reduce the distances between continents, they also foment dialogue between them. And a new generation of correspondents are asking themselves, more and more, about how the work they do not only informs the public about what takes place on the African continent, but also constructs the image of what the continent is and can be. Have discourses about Africa improved in recent years? Has the content grown more pluralistic? Are digital media and society more permeable to content that is generated in Africa?
