Debate + Audiovisuals

Premiere of the film The Apple Day (2022) by the renowned Iranian filmmaker Mahmoud Ghaffari and subsequent discussion with the director, screenwriter Mahnaz Jarchi, film expert Jordi Balló and journalist Zahida Membrado.

In this session, director Mahmoud Ghaffari and screenwriter Mahnaz Jarchi present for the first time in our house The Apple Day (2022), a feature film that was nominated for the Generation Kplus section of the Berlinale in 2022. The piece portrays the everyday life of a family in a suburb of Tehran and offers a sensitive yet critical look at the social and political reality in Iran. Finished shortly after the start of the Women, Life, Freedom movement, the presentation of the film at the Berlinale meant the exile of both artists.

Since March 2024 Mahmoud Ghaffari has been hosted in Barcelona by the Artists at Risk (AR) - A European Network of Safe Havens, a Creative Europe Network Project, funded by the European Union, with the collaboration of the CCCB and the platform No Callarem.

After the screening, Mahmoud Ghaffari and Mahnaz Jarchi chat with film expert Jordi Balló in a session moderated by journalist Zahida Membrado.
