«Machines That Think: Opportunities and Dilemmas of Artificial Intelligence» is the sixth of the ICREA-CCCB Debates, a stable working relationship aimed at informing the wider public about the advances being made in high-level research in Catalonia and the challenges it faces.
Artificial intelligence has two basic aims: making machines intelligent and understanding intelligence from the computational perspective. In recent years this research has moved outside the laboratory and attracted the interest of the press and companies like Google and Facebook. The aim of this lecture is to examine how artificial intelligence is studied, and to analyse the social and human implications of this technology in order to understand how it will be developed in future.
