Lateral Views of “Sade: Freedom or Evil”
On Desire: Feminisms Facing Sade
With Clara Serra
Courses and workshops
How is what we call “feminine” desire constructed and conditioned? Thinker and activist Clara Serra guides us through the exhibition to confront Sade with present-day feminisms.
Taken together, feminist reflection on desire (that is, the critique of patriarchal censure of women’s desire), the possible meaning of a particularly “feminine” desire and the relationship between desire and evil, make Sade a key interlocutor for contemporary feminisms, as well as for contemporary conversation on sexuality and violence, as taken up in this visit.
