Plotting friendship

Scene + Debate

To mark the publication of Pol Guasch’s new novel, Ofert a les mans, el paradís crema – a story of friendship in an uninhabitable world – a few friends come together. These are Miquel Missé, Clara Aguilar, Marina Garcés and Pol Guasch, who ask themselves if friendship might be about plotting a desirable universe.

Friendship is an estrangement that binds together. A shared language for people who do not think alike. With it having few frames of reference and being little theorised, it is hard to say what friends do. Therefore the best way to explore it by talking about it.

This first presentation of Pol Guasch’s new novel explores the power and limits of friendship using a hybrid and inter-disciplinary format. Clara Aguilar and Pol Guasch offer us a soundscape using word, image and music to get the conversation going. And unrestrained talking is what friends do: to point out context and insist on doing so. But also to celebrate and party – as in this gathering, which marks the arrival of a new book in the world.
