This year the Barcelona Independent Film Festival, l'Alternativa, reaches its 22nd edition. For 22 years the festival has been sharing eye-opening films and offering Barcelona filmgoers and professionals a unique opportunity to discover and enjoy thought-provoking screenings and activities.
From 16 to 22 November, the CCCB hosts a new edition of L'Alternativa. The festival offers a unique opportunity to discover and enjoy screenings and activities about cinema whose watchwords are diversity, creativity, freedom and commitment. There are two competition sections in L'Alternativa Official: Feature Films and Short Films. L'Alternativa Parallel presents tributes (Hubert Sauper and Lucrecia Martel), premieres, little-known films and work by new directors.
In addition, L'Alternativa Hall offers a rich, varied programme of free screenings in the cavernous CCCB Hall. Spaces for education and debate can be found in L'Alternativa Activities, including a symposium (What is film (not) becoming?), Hubert Sauper masterclass, creative workshops, roundtables and Film Schools seminars. And L'Alternativa Professionals is running a professional symposium and advice sessions for film projects.
