Family portraits: Kubrick noir and horror
Audiovisuals
Free
This session looks at Kubrick’s investigation of the social, political and cultural structures of contemporary Western societies by exploring destructive social contexts, which, though apparently precisely designed, collapse time after time due to negligence and a depressing collective lack of reflection and responsibility, generally with tragic personal consequences.
Debate on the following films: Killer’s Kiss (1955), The killing (1956), Lolita (1962), The shining (1980), Eyes wide shut (1999).
Moderators: Jordi Sánchez-Navarro
Participants: Ángel Sala, Marta Piñol Lloret
