Marta Salicrú, journalist and director of Radio Primavera Sound, takes an unexpected look at the exhibition Gameplay from the viewpoint of pop culture.
Just like in Street Fighter, the video game has had to fight for its place in pop culture. From the bottom rung of low culture, amusement arcades, to the central role it now enjoys in 21st-century pop, knocking out even contemporary art. Push the right buttons on the joystick, and video games activate the evocative power of nostalgia, addictive jingles and the latest technology. “You win!”
