Bolaño Archive. 1977- 2003

Recoleta Cultural Centre, Buenos Aires

A decade after Bolaño’s death, in response to his well-known love of Argentine literature (he was an avid reader of Arlt, but also of Macedonio Fernández, Borges and Cortázar), the City ofBuenos Aireswanted to be the first to pay homage to him by hosting “The Bolaño Archive. 1977-2003”at the Centro Cultural Recoleta.

The Bolaño Archive is the product of collaboration between the CCCB and Bolaño’s widow, Carolina López. In addition to its thematic approach and innovative museographic elements, what makes this exhibition special is the unpublished material from the writer’s archive. Novels, short stories, poems, miscellaneous texts and notebooks, correspondence, family photographs, magazines and fanzines, his personal library, a whole host of interviews, strategy games and other valuable materials offer a greater understanding of Bolaño’s creative world and help to produce a freer, more prolific interpretation of his work.
