BCNmp7. 2009
Music in process
BCNmp7 is a project that promotes production, agitation and debate on contemporary forms of popular music. It puts the spotlight on the musical specificity that exists in Barcelona, without leaving out the increasingly strong communicating vessels between cities, regions and global trends.
Dates: February 21, April 2, May 13, June 11, September 22.
Groups that participated in past seasons of BCNmp7 include Oval, Russian Red, Jarboe, Ajo y Mastretta, Jonathan Richman, Kiko Veneno, Muchachito, Ceza, Charlie Gillet, Nouvelle Vague and Ciudadano.
In its fourth year, BCNmp7 continues to explore alternative visions of today's music scene, through concerts that show some of the fusions and frictions that affect different musical genres. With names like Jeremy Jay, Marina Gallardo, Nudo Zurdo, el tío Carlos and Calima, the 2009 program will start off with a mini-festival of emergent Spanish and international groups. There will also be a session dedicated to analysing the impact of the "Barcelona sound", and an exploration of the influence of groups from Brooklyn's music scene in the creation of a new sound.
